Andhra Pradesh Accelerates Mission Towards a Garbage-Free Future

An inspection was conducted at the Donthali Dumping Yard and Processing Plant in Nellore Rural as part of the government’s continued efforts to build a cleaner and garbage-free Andhra Pradesh.

The government remains committed to transforming the state through sustainable waste management initiatives. It was noted that the previous administration left behind nearly 15.3 million tonnes of waste across Andhra Pradesh, while burdening citizens with garbage taxes and neglecting long-term development.

Significant progress has already been achieved, with 8.5 million tonnes of waste cleared so far. At Donthali alone, the existing 65,000 tonnes of accumulated waste is expected to be completely removed by the end of this month.

As part of the long-term vision, a state-of-the-art Waste-to-Energy plant will be established at Donthali within the next two years. Once operational, the facility will process and manage daily waste generated within a 100-kilometer radius, contributing to cleaner cities and sustainable energy generation.

In addition, the government is setting up six more Waste-to-Energy plants across the state. Processing units in 108 municipalities are also being fast-tracked and are expected to be operational within the next month.
