Nellore Strengthens Flood Resilience with Comprehensive Drain Modernisation Works

As part of the vision to develop Nellore into a well-planned and resilient urban centre, large-scale drainage infrastructure improvements are being undertaken to address long-standing waterlogging and flood-related challenges faced by citizens. With an investment of ₹50 crore, the modernisation of 15 major drains has been initiated to enhance the city’s stormwater management system and provide a safer living environment for residents.

Works on eight major drains are progressing at a rapid pace, while the remaining projects are being expedited simultaneously to meet the scheduled timelines. The modernisation of all 15 major drains is targeted for completion by December, after which the upgraded infrastructure will be dedicated to the public.

The project is expected to significantly reduce water stagnation and flooding concerns in Nellore, even during periods of heavy rainfall. With a focus on the city’s future requirements, infrastructure initiatives are being implemented with the highest standards to deliver sustainable, long-term benefits and improve the overall quality of life for citizens.
