Municipal Administration Minister Shri Ponguru Narayana visited Uyyuru Government Hospital along with MLA Shri Bode Prasad, former MLC Shri Y.V.B. Rajendra Prasad and JC Naveen to enquire about the health of patients undergoing treatment for diarrhoea and review the situation. At present, nine patients are receiving treatment at the hospital, while 11 people from vuyyuru and surrounding villages were admitted, including six from Uyyuru Municipality. All patients are reported to be in stable condition.
Shri Ponguru Narayana clarified that the death of a person due to a cardiac condition was unrelated to Diarrhea and urged people not to believe unverified reports. He stated that no bacteria were detected in the preliminary drinking water tests. The Minister emphasised that the exact cause of the diarrhoea outbreak, including whether it was linked to pipeline contamination or issues with RO plants, would be established after comprehensive testing.
As part of strengthening water supply and civic infrastructure in Uyyuru, works worth ₹98 crore are being undertaken under AMRUT 2.0. Shri Ponguru Narayana stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of residents.
