Anna Canteen (2014)

TIDCO (Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation)
In 2016, Narayana's initiative to establish TIDCO was a significant step towards boosting industrial development in Andhra Pradesh. The corporation focuses on creating robust industrial infrastructure, facilitating investments from both domestic and international sources, and supporting entrepreneurship through various schemes and incentives. CRDA - 2024
In 2014, Dr. Ponguru Narayana led the development of Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh’s capital. After a pause, the project resumed in October 2024 with a ₹160 crore investment and recently, he secured ₹11,000 crore loan from HUDCO, emphasizing his commitment to transform Amaravati into one of India’s top capitals. His focus on the needs of residents and landowners reflects his dedication to the city’s development and community welfare.
Education & Educationalist Career
Dr. Narayana Ponguru’s education academic brilliance pinnacled in a gold medal in Statistics from Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati in 1979. Following his postgraduate studies, Dr. Narayana began teaching part-time at V.R. College in Nellore while also providing tuition to students, often helping his classmates and seniors understand complex subjects. His teaching career took root in 1979 when he started a tuition center in a small rented room in Nellore, initially with just five students. His exceptional teaching style, which simplified complex mathematical concepts, quickly attracted students from across Andhra Pradesh. The tuition center grew into a wide coaching hub with a growing reputation, offering teaching across multiple subjects. By 1983, Dr. Narayana Ponguru’s vision transformed his small setup into a full-fledged educational institution.
Over the years, Narayana Educational Institutions expanded, covering all levels of education, from high school to specialized coaching for competitive exams. In 1990, he established a high school, and in 1993, he founded Narayana Women’s College, a residential college for girls, in Nellore. In 1999, he established a junior college and coaching centers for IIT-JEE in Nellore, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada. By the late 1990s, Narayana Educational Institutions had entered professional education, making a remarkable impact nationwide. Today, with a presence in nearly 20 states, Narayana Educational Institutions educate over 500,000 students and employ around 50,000 staff members. These institutions have become synonymous with excellence, with students excelling in prestigious exams like IIT-JEE, NEET, BITSAT, AFMC, AIIMS, and JIPMER.
Political Career
Inspired by a desire to serve society, Dr. Narayana entered the political arena in 2014 after being encouraged by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. In 2014, Dr. Narayana delivered a powerful growth from education to politics by joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), he was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and was soon appointed as the Cabinet Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Urban Water Supply, and Urban Planning under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
His vision and dedication were instrumental in the development of the state’s urban infrastructure, particularly in the ambitious plans for the new state capital, Amaravati.
A philanthropist at heart, Dr. Narayana has continued to support the people of Nellore through free medical services at Nellore Narayana Hospital, where hundreds receive daily treatment. His uncompromising commitment to public welfare was particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which free treatment was offered to hundreds daily. Known for his transparency and integrity, Dr. Narayana disclosed an income of ₹477 crores in his election affidavit, marking him as one of India’s most successful and socially conscious leaders.
