The long-awaited Dagadarthi Airport project in SPSR Nellore district is finally set to move forward as the state government has acquired 630 of the 1,379 acres required for the greenfield airport. An inspection by representatives from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is scheduled for next week to assess the site.
Originally approved during the 2014-2019 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) administration, the airport project faced several delays despite initial land acquisition efforts and a prepared detailed project report (DPR). In a recent review, Minister for Municipal Administration Ponguru Narayana emphasized the necessity of air connectivity for Nellore’s rapidly growing industrial landscape, supported by major infrastructure projects like Krishnapatnam and Ramayapatnam Ports. Minister for Endowments Anam Ramanarayana Reddy noted that further compensation will be provided to complete the land acquisition process.
