As part of an extensive review of infrastructure projects in the Capital Region, ongoing development works along Kondaveeti Vagu and the bridges under construction on the N9, N8, and N7 corridors were inspected.
To ensure uninterrupted water flow during the upcoming monsoon season, directions were issued to immediately clear silt deposits accumulated near bridge structures. Authorities have also been instructed to implement measures that will enhance the water-carrying capacity of the waterway and strengthen flood management across the region.
Expansion and Modernization of Key Water Channels
Recognizing the need for improved drainage and flood resilience, widening works have been prioritized in sections where Kondaveeti Vagu currently has limited width. Significant progress is being made on the development of:
- Kondaveeti Vagu – 23.7 km
- Palavagu – 16.7 km
- Gravity Canal – 7.84 km
These projects are designed to improve water flow, support sustainable urban development, and strengthen the region’s long-term infrastructure network.
Reservoir Development Advancing at Pace
The government is accelerating the construction of critical water infrastructure, including the Neerukonda Reservoir, which is being developed across 440 acres, along with three additional reservoirs and associated waterway enhancement works.
With focused execution and continuous monitoring, the government aims to complete these major infrastructure and water management projects by mid-next year, reinforcing the Capital Region’s preparedness for future growth and environmental sustainability.
