As part of the government’s commitment to creating healthier and greener urban spaces, the ongoing development works at Abdul Kalam Park in the 48th Division were reviewed along with District Collector Himanshu Shukla and Municipal Commissioner Nandan.
During the visit, interactions were held with local residents and time was spent at the park’s open gym, encouraging citizens to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Children at the park were also greeted warmly, reflecting the government’s focus on creating inclusive and vibrant public spaces for people of all ages.
Speaking on the occasion, it was reiterated that the Healthy Nellore initiative aims to establish one park for every kilometre across the city, ensuring accessible recreational and fitness facilities for every neighbourhood.
As part of the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s Vision–2047, decentralized parks are being developed across residential areas to improve the quality of urban living. Responding to requests from residents, it was also announced that additional gym cycles will soon be installed at the park to further strengthen its fitness infrastructure.
The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to enhancing public amenities, promoting healthy lifestyles, and developing sustainable, people-friendly urban spaces across Nellore.
The review was attended by Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha, Deputy Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav, former ZPTC Vijetha Reddy, local TDP leaders, public representatives and officials.
