The statewide “Operation Clean Sweep” campaign has been formally launched across municipalities with the objective of achieving comprehensive urban cleanliness and improving sanitation standards. The initiative is being implemented over a structured period of four weeks to ensure systematic execution and long-term impact.
As part of the program, activities such as road sweeping along with sanitation workers, painting of road dividers, and plantation drives have been undertaken. These measures are aimed at improving hygiene conditions, enhancing the appearance of public spaces, and promoting environmental sustainability in urban areas.
With the active participation of citizens and voluntary organizations, the first week of the campaign focuses on cleaning roads and public spaces. The second week is dedicated to the cleaning and maintenance of drains and water channels to ensure proper sanitation and smooth flow of waste water.
During the third week, awareness programs are being conducted in households and commercial establishments to promote the importance of waste segregation at source. These initiatives aim to encourage responsible waste management practices and strengthen public participation in cleanliness efforts.
In the fourth week, special drives are being carried out to improve the maintenance and hygiene of public toilets. In addition, efforts are being taken to establish Waste-to-Energy plants with the goal of transforming municipalities into dumping-yard-free urban spaces and promoting sustainable waste management systems
