Municipal Administration Minister Shri Ponguru Narayana has been focusing on strengthening public education and modernising government schools to provide better learning opportunities for students. The revitalisation of VR Municipal High School, Nellore, established in 1875, reflects this vision of preserving historic educational institutions while creating modern learning environments for future generations.
With ₹15 crore in CSR support, the school has been upgraded with modern classrooms, digital learning facilities, laboratories and improved amenities, while retaining its historic character. The institution has achieved 100% admissions, with over 1,000 students enrolled in the current academic year. Students from economically weaker sections are being supported through free education, nutrition, transportation, uniforms and learning materials. These efforts highlight the importance of focused governance and effective public-private collaboration in strengthening public education and expanding opportunities for every child.
