A review was conducted on the progress of waste processing and treatment works at the Donthali dumping yard in Nellore, along with an inspection of the ongoing processing plant works.
It was noted that out of 153 lakh tonnes of legacy waste left behind by the previous government, 130 lakh tonnes have already been cleared, and the remaining waste is targeted for complete processing by the end of July.
It was further stated that in cities such as Guntur and Visakhapatnam, waste-to-energy plants are already converting around 2,800 tonnes of waste per day into electricity. Across the state, work is progressing rapidly on 6 additional waste-to-energy plants and 107 processing facilities.
Once the waste-to-energy plant being established by Jindal at Donthali is completed, it is expected to enable scientific daily processing of waste from a 100-kilometre radius.
With the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister, treatment facilities are being established at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore, aimed at protecting public health and achieving the goal of a waste-free Andhra Pradesh.
