Visakhapatnam Hosts Key HUDCO UiWIN Conference on Urban Development and Financing

A two-day regional conference under the HUDCO UiWIN initiative was held in Visakhapatnam bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on urban infrastructure development and financing. Organized by HUDCO the workshop focused on strengthening municipalities by enabling effective fund mobilization for infrastructure and development projects while also empowering local institutions.

In this context it was highlighted that since the state bifurcation Andhra Pradesh has received loans worth ₹51,000 crore from HUDCO playing a crucial role in advancing urban infrastructure. The introduction of the UiWIN (Urban Infrastructure Window) is expected to further streamline funding processes making it easier for cities to access resources and accelerate the development of essential infrastructure.

Looking ahead several major infrastructure initiatives are being planned to support urban growth. These include the early construction of metro rail projects in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam along with a semi-ring road in Visakhapatnam under the VMRDA aimed at improving connectivity and easing urban mobility.

The conference witnessed the participation of prominent leaders and officials including MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy garu, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Srinivas garu, HUDCO CMD Sanjay Kulshrestha garu, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg garu along with representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry reflecting a collective commitment towards sustainable and well-planned urban development.
